UN Report on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism

3rd March 2018 by Global Disability Watch

The report written by the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism, Ms. Ikponwosa Ero, has just been published.

While the report addresses in large the right to health, it also tackles more established and urgent concerns including the much reported attacks on people with albinism, human rights violations and discrimination.

The report highlights how while countries such as Tanzania have taken measures to reduce the number of attacks on people with albinism, the situation, the expert stresses ‘remains extremely fragile, as the
root causes of the attacks are still widespread in the country’.

The report will be presented by Ms. Ero on the 6th of March 15.00 to 18.00 (Geneva Time) in an interactive dialogue with the Human Rights Council.

A live broadcast of this presentation will be available at the following link: http://www.un.org/webcast/unhrc/
