Yana Zayed (Egypt & Eastern Mediterranean)

24th November 2015 by Global Disability Watch

Yana currently works as a regional adviser on community-based inclusive development and CBR for CBM’s Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office. Prior to that, Yana spent eight years working with organisations in Tanzania, Kenya and occupied Palestine on inclusion. She has also worked in the UK for two years on developing an online accessibility guide to goods and services.
The focus of Yana’s work within the development landscape has been on supporting the empowerment of people with disability and building their capacity to advocate for their rights. In collaboration with DPOs and people with disability, she has developed disability equality resource materials and training workshops as tools for addressing the disabling barriers that hinder inclusion.
Over the years, Yana has been involved in various international, national and local advocacy initiatives and has sat on several technical and review committees including for the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics as well as the WHO.
