Tigabu Gebremedhin Kassa holds a BA in Sociology and Social Administration, an MA in Special Needs Education/Psychology and an MSC in Public Health (prospective). He has extensive training in a number of areas including: Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Management; Community Eye Health; Planning Ear and Hearing Health; and Project Cycle Management.
Tigabu has over 21 years of experience supervising, managing, monitoring and evaluating CBR Programs. He has also been engaged in training of CBR Field Workers, supervisors, managers, health extension workers, leaders of DPOs, teachers, self-help Groups and local administration leaders among others. He initiated the pioneering CBR Network in Ethiopia and has been involved in community level research as well as multi-purpose, multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder program development.
He has over the past years held an advisory role in CBR. He is Chairperson of the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) Africa and a member of EENET, CBR/DID, and a number of national and international disability organizations and networks. He is professionally associated with the Ethiopian Special Needs Education Professional Association as well as Social Work and Psychology.
