Shirley Keoagile (Botswana)

Shirley Keoagile

Shirley Keoagile is currently Executive Director of the Botswana Association of the Deaf/Botswana Federation of Disabled (BOFOD). She is a renowned disability activist promoting the interests of persons with disabilities. She has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities in the country in order to contribute towards the development process of the country.

She previously served as public sectary, vice-chairperson and vice-president for BOFOD; committee member of the Confederation of Sport for People with Disabilities; ambassador of the youth with disabilities and HIV/AIDS courtesy of NACA, BNYC and Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture; Programmes Officer at the Disability HIV/AIDS Trust; President of the Botswana Deaf Sports Association and Interim Secretary Board Member at the Southern Africa Deaf Community (SADECOM). She was appointed in 2015 as a new member of the Botswana National Sports Commission as representative of Paralympics and disability sports by Ministers Hon Olopeng. She serves on various committees at national and Africa level

She has received a number of awards including: Ten Outstanding young persons of the world (Honoree) in recognition of excellence in contribution to Children, World Peace and or Human rights 2012; NID College Outstanding Student of the year Ambassador Cup 2012; Botswana national Youth Council chairman icon awards 2014.
