Shaunette Grant (Jamaica)

8th January 2016 by Global Disability Watch

Shaunette Grant is Project Coordinator of the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Program at Clarendon Group for the Disabled in Jamaica. She became a part of the lives of the disabled community members in 2002. Shaunette has not been formally trained to deal with persons with disabilities but has garnered experience in working directly with disabled children. These experiences have taught her to accept, support and coordinate plans for persons with disabilities to be as independent as best as is possible.

Shaunette attended The University of the West Indies and gained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration in the year 2012. Since her time managing the Clarendon Group for the Disabled she has played an integral role in rehabilitation work within the various communities in the parish of Clarendon. During her 12 years working in the field, her organization has assisted over 200 children by way of integration within the government school system, special education institutions, and advocating for financial aid to families who are in need of social and economic empowerment.
