Olmedo Zambrano was born in Guadalajara, México. His academic background is in Educational Sociology and Social Communication. He has worked as coordinator for Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) programmes in Ecuador since 1990.
He is currently responsible for the project CBR Coordination, a component of which is the dissemination of information through the online portal www.rbcecuador.org, providing virtual and in-person training on CBR and the promotion of a national CBR network in Ecuador.
He has worked as advisor and trainer for Latin America on CBR and Inclusive Development for CBM since 1999.
He has been active as participant, convenor and facilitator of CBR and Inclusive Development workshops in Germany, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, México, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago.
He is a member of the CBM Livelihood World Advisory Group.
Olmedo is author of Discapacidades en la infancia (Fundación FACES, 2001), Sensibilización y prevención de discapacidades (Fundación FACES, 2002) y Orientación y movilidad para personas con discapacidad visual (Federación Nacional de Ciegos del Ecuador, 2008, three editions).
