Thy Nhip (Cambodia)

Thy Nhip is Founder and Executive Director of Cambodian Development Mission for Disability (CDMD). He graduated and received academic awards for outstanding success on his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and Master Degree in Development Management at Norton University in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He also trained and worked as a school teacher and medical nurse between 1989 and 1992 in a refugee camp, Thailand.

He started his involvement in disability through working with a CBR program in 1995 as a Field Supervisor with the Mary knoll NGO and then as Project Coordinator in 2001 with Caritas. From 2007 to date he has been employed as the Executive Director of CDMD. He has participated in many disability trainings and workshops nationally and internationally related to CBR, SHG, disability inclusion and development, and resource mobilization among others.

He has helped develop many policies, guidelines, legal frameworks, project design and evaluation for NGOs and disability practice inside and outside of Cambodia. He also designed and facilitated various trainings and workshops for CBR operators, DPOs, health professionals as well as many other government officials to promote disability inclusion and rights of persons with disabilities in Cambodia.

Thy Nhip was officially recognized and awarded 2 Gold Medals from the Royal Government of Cambodia for his contribution in NGO cooperation and disability work in Cambodia.
