Luc Pariot (Madagascar)

8th February 2016 by Global Disability Watch

Luc Pariot has been working as an Inclusive Development Officer for CBM in Madagascar since January 2013. He provides technical support to different partners in Madagascar for the development of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR), disability mainstreaming, organizational capacity building, orthopaedic, paediatric and rehabilitation services.
Luc is a French & Canadian citizen. He studied physiotherapy in France and has obtained an MSc. in Community Disability Studies for Developing Countries at the University College of London.

He has been involved in the field of international development on disability issues for 25 years in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Prior to moving to Madagascar with CBM, he worked in different countries for Handicap International as a Project Manager as well as a Technical and CBR Advisor. Over the last 20 years, he has worked more specifically on CBR and inclusive development programmes: implementing roundtable discussions, conducting needs assessments and project evaluations, publishing newsletters, supporting a resource centre on disability and rehabilitation, designing and implementing training and communication materials for CBR workers and partners, and providing informal mentoring and supervision to project officers and CBR workers.

His extensive field experience has enabled him to gain significant understanding of disability issues in different cultural contexts and to build a strong network of partners (DPOs, NGOs, INGOs and Government Ministries) in the countries where he worked. His professional motivations are fostered by working in a team, creating links, networking with stakeholders and reinforcing partners’ capacity while cultivating respect, empathy and positive thinking.
