Helen Mudora Obande (Kenya)

Helen Mudora Obande is a human rights activist, with a special interest in women, children and disability rights. She is an independent consultant in Development Communication and Gender and Disability Discrimination. Helen has previously served as the Executive Director of the Association of Media Women in Kenya, a leading Media Women Association in Kenya and as Executive Director of the United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK), the umbrella organization for Disabled Persons in Kenya. She has also served as National coordinator of Leonard Cheshire Disability (Kenya Office), as well as an advocacy and communications officer of the African Network for Prevention and Protection Against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Regional Office. Helen has also previously worked for the national broadcaster, the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation as a radio and Television talk-show host and producer. She is alumni of the Ford Foundation International Fellowship Programme, and a recipient of the Excellent Student award in Women and Gender Studies, San Francisco State University, California.
