Kalaiventhan Rajadurai (Sri Lanka)

18th November 2015 by Shaun Grech

Currently Program Coordinator for the Centre for Accessibility Monitoring and Information on Disability (CAMID) a Non Profit organisation based in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. CAMID works with a strong emphasis on empowering people with disabilities to access appropriate services respecting their rights and providing consultancy on disability for stakeholders toward an inclusive society.

I also work as trainer and develop new modules, training packages and curricula on social integration. In addition I provide technical inputs on accessibility/Disability/Inclusion/Livelihoods/DRR to develop new project proposals. I am also engaged in networking with government authorities such as local authorities, the Ministry of Social Services and Directors and District Social Services Department/Officers as well as international, national and district level disability related organizations in all the country.

I have provided key support to the National Secretariat of Persons with Disability (ministry of social services) through awareness and training workshops on accessibility in various parts (districts) of Sri Lanka. I also provided technical inputs on accessibility assessment to conduct.

I facilitate identification of livelihood training needs on inclusion of partners and stakeholders and in response develop plans and training materials for the delivery of disability, development and mainstreaming awareness and training initiatives in coordination with the national technical team. I have also been strongly involved in technical advocacy on how to construct a barrier free environment.
